It doesn't happen often, but it still happens...
Fake PSA Slabs?!
The form GameStop uses to identify counterfeits when people try to sell PSA slabs to the store was recently released. These tips are also useful for us!
Let's list them!
1. Injection Spot
If the bottom of the bib is smooth and you don't feel a point, the bib is fake .
2. Ticks
Hold the bib at an angle and look at it from the side. There should be three small lines on the left and right sides of the case. If not, the bib is fake ! (Note: These lines are difficult to find if you've never seen them before!)
3. Part Numbers
The bottom right corner of the bib should say 11, 21, or 27. If there's no number there, the bib is fake !
4. Blacklight Test
Shine a blacklight on the front of the label; if it glows white, the label is fake . On the back, six PSA logos should light up with a blacklight around the visible PSA logo.
5. Lighthouse Label
Take a close look at the label. The white background should read PSA or CLCT NASDAQ . If the label has a plain white background, it's fake !
6. Rails
In the case, the card is held in place by four visible, thicker bars. If these are missing, the bib is fake !
7. 90 Degree angles
The empty spaces where the card's corners are located should be at a clean 90-degree angle. If these are rounded or blurred in the case, the case is fake !
8. Tampering
Check that all edges are smooth, nothing is broken, and there are no signs of damage. A case is melted and pressed shut; if you can pry it open, it's definitely a fake !
AND MUCH MORE IMPORTANT!
Use your common sense... If a card is too cheap to be true, the label looks strange, you don't quite trust the seller... sometimes it's smarter to pass up a great deal.
